Creative Writing is the artistic expression of a collection of genres from poetry, fiction, short stories, and more. Creative Writing as many of you may know has been my passion since I was eight. This has been a lifelong passion of mine and the catalyst to me graduating from UC Davis with my Bachelors in English (includes my Creative Writing emphasis). Creative Writing 101 is an online course that will be launching this Saturday on April 1st! This two hour online course will be held on zoom for the first time. I am so excited because this course is my baby. I have been wanting to do a course for a long time, but I was not sure how to do it. Danielle's course pushed me to make the move. I look forward to meeting a small intimate group of people and discussing the art of writing. My goal is to help people take control and see the power of their narrative. Too often society makes up one for us, especially people of color. The purpose of this course is to teach the importance of storytelling and how it proves useful in daily life.
A month ago, was the birthday for The Journeyverse. My baby is officially one year old. I have never been so excited. I feel like a real mother building a brand, business, and exercising a skill or turning your craft into a work of passion takes time. I am glad that I have continued to stick with it no matter how much life gets in the way or how busy I get I live and breathe for the success of The Journeyverse. I am aware I have a lot of content to put out and I promise to release stuff on a more consistent basis. I have had a lot of life changes at the moment from wearing many hats, carving out my own life path, and elevating in all aspects of my life. No matter what life throws out me rest assured The Journeyverse is here to stay…for good!
Finally, after much anticipation...your favorite blogger is the back! Five whole long months have gone by, and I have been trying to figure out what to say about my hiatus. Life happens and it happens hard sometimes. These last few months have been challenging to say the least. I would like to think we have built up a great rapport. One where you the reader and me the writer have a little dialogue twice a month or so about any and everything so now that I have returned, I want to fill you in on my absence and what to expect for the future of the blog. Over the course of the past few months, I have experienced a series of transitions and transformations. Thank you to everyone who has reached out to me to check on me and the status of the blog. I appreciate everyone who has been there for me throughout these months as I figure out and navigate a new chapter in my life, as well as those who have not taken my absence or silence lightly. Every kind word and piece of advice I have been given has motivated me greatly to pick up the pieces of my life because it truly is worth living. Thus, allowing me to return with resilience and confidence. Now I can continue be true to me, allowing me to in turn be true to my art.
According to Oxford Languages, Journey in its most basic context means, "an act of traveling from one place to another." The one that really resonates with me most is Oxford's second definition, "a long and often difficult process of personal change [or] development." I know this to be the truth because my mother confirmed it and well, I am living it.
